I wonder if there's a way to tell people how to use CTRL-click (or other methods) to get the various links to open up as separate pages.  If I didn't know that, I would have found it really frustrating to have the new pages nearly always open in the same window, requiring me to keep hitting the back button to avoid getting lost.  Or maybe change the links so they open in a new window as the default?  At least for the "See the Sites" links.

On the Benefits Overview slide show, it was a little disconcerting to be bumped along through the slides automatically, rather than having to click Next when I was ready.  This was especially true when there were links that I wanted to look at.  Didn't like having to pause the slide show to prevent it from continuing on without me.

To be consistent let them know there is immediate vesting---tell them in the script that it means they get to keep everything.

    Slides - Eligibility

Throughout the presentation the %time and duration eligibility requirements are represented in a new way:

"Your position requires that you work a minimum of half time for at least three months"

I think this is very misleading, because these are two separate requirements, if you are less than 50% time (with the exception of grandfathered medical doctors), you are ineligible, regardless of the duration of your appointment and if your appointment duration is less than three months, you are ineligible regardless of your %time.  Another eligibility issue - employees must have a 12 month appointment to be eligible for Tuition Assistance.

    Discuss

    MM

Yes. Done. Concerns exist over adding too much detail, especially since the overview qualifies the eligibility requirements and directs viewers to sites where the details are spelled out. For now, we have addressed this by copying text from the HR Benefits eligibility page, and by adding more "Am I eligible?" links to various slides. The link target is the HR Benefits eligibility page.  N.B. This needs to be revisited for the Open Enrollment Release.

Script text - change "options" to "Plan". Capitalize "supplemental 401(k) plan". Rephrase " You invest your own funds in these supplemental plans, but MIT offers a terrific pre-tax saving plan and matches the first 5% you contribute." to "You invest your own funds in the supplemental plan and MIT matches the first 5% you contribute." Change "sign up for this great benefit now" to "sign up for this great benefit as soon as possbile".

Script contents. "Many investment options" is vague. Could use "over 300" but that's too intimidating. "Benefit is paid at retirement..." is not necessary. "Retiree medical plan available" is not necessary. Deleting these two last bullets will make the slide simpler. If this information is deemed essential, consider adding a new slide. Last, add a link "For more information, visit ..."

    Slides - Enroll (63)

Script and slide contents. "You must enroll in 31 days" is not accurate; only required for some benefits. (E.G., not required for the MIT Basic Retirement Plan.) Suggest that we enumerate those benefits that have an enrollment deadline.

    Slides - Tuition Assistance

Breakout of item 66:  I did not see Tuition Assistance listed in the outline.
Overall, I think the site does not stress benefits eligibility enough.  The hundreds of employees and affiliated persons associated with the Institute who are not benefits eligible, or who are eligible for some subset of Institute benefits, will have access to this information, and many will not be eligible for the benefits explained here.  From the way it is presented they might think they are.

    Discuss

    MM

Yes. Done. This is addressed by changing slide 57's overview title to "Education/Tuition Assistance"., and by adding an additional "Am I Eligible?" link to the slide 8.

    Staying Safe

Under Staying Safe, maybe include a couple computer safety tips, such as
Never share your Kerberos aka Athena aka email password.  No one at MIT (e.g. Computing Help Desk) will ask you to share your password, especially not via email - any such requests are phishing attacks.
Be careful sharing any personal information, such as social security number (SSN), online or in person, unless you know how it will be used.

Visiting appointments, you may want to revise to include red text "If you hold an appointment at a minimum of half time for three months or more, your are entitled . . . ".   Have you thought about providing a link to benefits options as done for Postdoctoral fellows?
