Overview
The fin can consists of a phenolic tube overwrapped with three layers of carbon fiber, to which the fins (G10 fin core with phenolic slotted over the leading edge) are attached. Six layers of carbon fiber are then added to each of the four sides of the fin can in the tip-to-tip layup, with the carbon fiber meeting but not covering the phenolic leading edge.
Below is an image of the first flight candidate fin can we manufactured. It has not been completely post-processed yet because we will make a second flight candidate fin can to make some improvements (for more details, read the articles below).
