Design Requirements
  1. Diameter less than 5.54 in
  2. Can hold a volume of 80 cubic inches
Prototype Designs **Sketches to be attached later
  1. Rectangular Prism with 2 Flaps
    1. Notes: This design was the easiest to sew. Some modifications to be added: add 2 more rectangular Flaps, add depth to the line-holding pocket (1/4 inch)

  2. Cylindrical with with 2 Semi-Circle Flaps
    1. Notes: Design included a pocket with depth, with two Velcro closures. Some modifications to be added: two locking loops must be placed on the sides of the bag and the location of these loops must not interfere with the pocket.

  3. Cylindrical with Pinch Closure
    1. Notes: The lines already had a built-in space for their storage, without the extra flaps that the main bag was constructed to have. However, the design also was not the most enclosed bag, as the flaps somewhat did not meet perfectly due to the warping of the bag's shape as it pinched closed.
Testing

All three designs were piston-tested. Design 2 failed twice, while both Design 1 and 3 deployed successfully.

Final Decision on Drogue Design/ Modifications

We decided on a rectangular prism design with a line-holding pocket.

Dimensions: **

Construction Notes:

It is extremely difficult to sew around the tapes, especially at the corners of the square base. Perhaps a circular bottom ends up being easier to sew.

Final Bag Testing

During the preliminary ground test on 1/23/2019, the drogue did not successfully deploy from the final bag, although this is likely due to the nose cone of the rocket hitting the snow and preventing further separation. We will retest with a vertical ground test on 1/25/2019 on Crow Island.
