Homework - Practice is most important.
Problem solving in class with a group if 3-4 people. Consider asking question in an unorthodox way..
Teach about matrices and Eigenvaue
give a matrix and ask about eigen value.
instead give eigenvalues and ask for matrix..
Give a question with multiple answers which always tends to be harder.
Students think a lot about the multiple answers –
You could guide by saying give me three matrcies. What is similar ? What is different?
David Darmofal
David Darmofal Do not focus on content.. understand measurable outcomes and try to assess it.
Active learning.. – Engage with the material.. I think of using my lecture time in a very active way..
USually I have 3 concept questions that I use..
Reflective pause. (midway through your lecture give a minute for reflection)
Use your resources like text books effective. Look ahead homework.
Haynes Miller - http://math.mit.edu/mathlets – Applets that use diff equations in engineering applications that can be carried forward.
Barry Kudroits. – Information that had a hands on activity was absorbed easily.
Huge Community of practice(mentors students and instrucors)
Treat the classroom as a stage.
Nametag, Box of materials, gift Wrap.
Everything is ready before students come in.
