How to run SAPGui on a Mac

If you have SAPGui installed on your Mac, you may have already noticed that running the SAPGui program by itself results in errors. As it turns out there are specific things that must be done in order to run SAP Gui successfully on a Mac.

Make sure you have all the components installed

These components are:

  1. Kerberos Extras for Mac
  2. The latest SAPGui program

When you run SAPGUI

Once you have all the pieces installed, you have to now run the appropriate programs in the correct order.

  1. Run "Ticket Viewer" which is Applications-> Utilities on your Mac.
  2. Click on "Add Identity"
  3. On the "Identity" line, type your kerberos username followed by @ATHENA.MIT.EDU
  4. Please note that ATHENA.MIT.EDU must be in all caps. So for example if your kerberos username is timthebeaver, you would type:

    timthebeaver@ATHENA.MIT.EDU

  5. On the password line, type your kerberos password.
  6. If this is successful the program will issue you a temporary ticket that will expire in about 10 hours.
  7. Now run SAPGui and everything should work, assuming your AO has given you access to the appropriate areas in SAPGui.
