For smaller groups (eg, Advanced/Challenge classes or tape groups), Schedules space generally makes more sense than CAC space. Schedules now has an online interface for reserving rooms – you can even pick a specific room that is probably available, but you should still give them guidance on what properties you want, because sometimes your choice will turn out to be unexpectedly unavailable.

Search tips

In terms of search, do capacity >25, and then do thumbnail or something so it shows you pictures and descriptions and look for ones that have tile floor, flat floor, moveable furniture.

Room comments

List of rooms to consider:
  • 5-234 (and nearby)
  • 4-265 and 4-261 (4-265 has tables, which makes it superior to 4-261 which has desks)
  • 2-131 (~22 x 35, 758 sq ft) is the best 2-13x room
  • 2-135 and 2-136 are decent too
  • 66-168 (~21 x 33 + triangle, 830 sq ft) holds ~3 plus squares or 2-3 challenge squares, note that the AV goes through the projector (the room's regular AV is broken)
  • 66-160 (~21 x 31, 617 sq ft)
  • Some other 66-1 rooms are good or acceptable as well
  • 36-112 (~27 x 40, 1035 sq ft) is good and large enough to hold 4 squares, or 5 in a pinch, so it's listed on Rooms We Reserve too; however, it has pillars

  • 5-217 (~25 x 33, 821 sq ft)

  • 24-307 (~21 x 39, 819 sq ft) make sure to have reservation in hand

Rooms to avoid:
  • 4-1 has several rooms with slightly raised power sources all over the floor

Sample request

Obviously, update appropriately, but these might be a good starting point for a tape group.
