  • The drawing should include exactly what you need - it needs to include all the dimensions and views in order to make the part, but nothing extra that can clutter the drawing
  • Dimension features from one edge (as opposed to hole to hole dimensions) to minimize the error. This edge is called a "datum"
  • Dimension lines should not cross
  • Place dimensions on the most useful view
  • Isometric views are not usually necessary, but they are often included to visualize the finished part

To create a drawing from a part:

  • Click the down arrow next to the new sheet
  • "Create drawing from part/assembly"
  • Choose A (ANSI) Landscape format
  • Place necessary drawing views
  • Use the "Smart Dimension" tool to add any necessary dimensions
