What experiments are we planning to do with the neurons?
- beta amyloid assay with app/appswe transfection about that..
- we decided against thioflavin t because it binds to beta amyloid fibrils and we don't know whether or not it will bind oligomers
- we think beta amyloid antibodies are probably our best option
- doing an ELISA assay is probably another option
- action potentials with and without beta amyloid production
- how long will it take
- miRNA testing?
- capstone/prelims in neurons?
What neuron options do we have?
- brainbits neurons
- french sebastien neurons have channel rhodopsin so can fire and turn pretty colors
- (but we have to differentiate those)
- can we differentiate them into not motor neurons (more representative of alzheimer's disease)
- we should talk to sebastien about how he manipulates his neurons/ if he's willing to give us some already differentiated cells
- sebastien palacio's neurons -
- not rhodopsin-y --> not cool
- not motor neurons - more accurate representation of alzheimer's
- this sebastien is more likely to help us work with the neurons/ address any problems that we face
