  • Data and Time
    • Wednesday 25 March 2015
      10:00 EDT (GMT-04:00) = 09:00 CDT = 14:00 GMT = 15:00 CET = 23:00 JST
    • connection information at bottom of page
  • Meeting Minutes
    • Attendees
      • Eric, Paul, Steve O., Doug, Larry, Herman, Kenji, Michael F., Andy B., Terry, Steve S.
    • updates from current missions
      • Paul showed recent fits to E0102 OVIII line normalizations using CALDB 4.6.5 contamination model
        • I3 looks pretty good at all CHIPY (within 10%) S3 is quite off at low (toward bottom edge) and high (toward ACIS-I) CHIPY
          • more contamination toward top of chip?
            • Herman doesn't think so
          • something with CTI, grade migration?
            • no difference in grade distribution
      • Herman showed his big dither from March 2015
        • this time includes high ACIS S rows
        • contamination has increased at edges since 2014, somewhat at center
        • similar shape top-to-bottom to 2014 big dither, just a normalization change
        • need less contam at high and low row than in current CALDB, opposite Paul's results
        • need to add C/O spatial dependence
      • Steve S. showed EPIC-MOS trend
        • MOS1 is probably consistent with no (C) contamination, but instead could be QE errors
        • MOS2 is contaminated with current tau_C ~ 0.7
        • no obvious absorption at other element edges
        • consistent with pure C model, same as RGS
        • no method (no baseline) for determining spatial dependence
        • no contam on pn still (probably because of cold trap, filters)
        • could difference btw MOS1,2 be due to environment/location wrt sunlit side of spacecraft?
      • Eric showed Suzaku/XIS trends
        • not much change in the last year
        • some discussion of reasons for the inclusion of H
          • Herman suggested revisiting the H trend with recent/combined RXJ1856 data
        • Herman suggests a differential rate plot, showing rate of build-up, can tell you (contamination) source characteristics
    • A/I from last IACHEC
      • Eric showed plot of optical depth at C,O for ACIS,XIS0,1,3
      • will add MOS data and spiff up the plot

      • A/I 2 DUE: March 30: Eric will ask AstroSat folks for any updates (Kallol Mukherjee?)
      • A/I 3 DUE: March 30: Eric will update the multi-mission plot with the information he has on ACIS,XIS,MOS and send it to Steve S. for display at EPIC cal meeting
      • A/I 4 DUE: April 13: Herman, Steve S., Eric will send Eric tau_c, tau_o for instruments as function of time (XIS,ACIS,MOS) and space (XIS,ACIS)
      • A/I 5 DUE: April 21 IACHEC WG session: Steve S. will look up possible environmental effects to explain MOS1/2 differences
      • A/I 6 DUE: April 21 IACHEC WG session: Steve S. will ask about RGS contamination update, include slide
      • A/I 7 DUE: April 21 IACHEC WG session: Eric: make differential rate plot, showing rate of build-up for Suzaku
      • A/I 8 DUE: April 21 IACHEC WG session: Eric: combine RXJ1856 data and see if H has changed for Suzaku

I think it would be useful to collect this information so I can present it all in one handy plot.  Would it be possible for the individuals listed above to send me those data by April 13?  Measured values on-axis at some representative epoch(s) are most useful; at least the most recent epoch should be included.  If there is measured spatial dependence (e.g. ACIS and XIS), then a single off-axis datapoint, e.g. halfway out to the edge of the FOV, would also be useful.  I will think of some way to combine all of this into one plot, maybe something akin to the E0102 line normalization plot that Paul shows.  We can discuss this more at the telecon.

    • discussion about how to structure the 1 x 1.75 hour WG sessions at upcoming IACHEC, which could include:
      • one WG session scheduled, 21 April 14:00-18:00 (4 hours)
        • do we need all that time?
        • who has other WG conflicts to work around?
        • Paul suggests defining a 2-hour primary meeting period for each session, with extra time for extra work if people want
      • who will attend the Beijing meeting? can we skype with European contingent (Andy, Steve S.)?
so far we just have Chandra and Suzaku representatives in attendance
        • Eric Miller (chair, Suzaku, Astro-H)
          Larry David (Chandra)
          Terry Gaetz (Chandra)
          Kenji Hamaguchi (Suzaku)
