2006 Horizon Project Wiki

Welcome to the 2006 Horizon Project Wiki. This space has been created as a place for the members of the Horizon Project Advisory Board to manage the process of selecting the foci for the 2006 Horizon Report, which will be co-published by the New Media Consortium (NMC) and the EDUCAUSE Learning Initiative (ELI), and released in January 2006.

For additional detail on the timeline, including all activities and due dates, click here or on the graphic above. The menu below will lead you to a variety of resources, news items, discussion areas, links, and more. The items in these areas are meant to grow – please add to them liberally from your own readings and environmental scanning – and above all, leave comments!

Current Focus: Sandbox — this is the space where the work of the 2006 Horizon Report is being captured :Current Focus

First Pass at Rankings
STATUS: Advisory Board members are conducting the first pass at ranking the technologies, trends, and challenges that will become the focus of the 2006 Horizon Report.

PROCESS:
Each Advisory Board member has 10 votes to allocate among the items listed under each of the five questions (50 votes total). These votes may be distributed in any way you wish – all 10 can go for a single item, 2 for one or more items, or spread out all 10. This will allow you to indicate the relative importance of the items you select to our foci of teaching, learning and creative expression.

For the first three questions, which focus on emerging technologies, we also ask that for each technology you cast a vote for, you also indicate a likely adoption horizon for colleges and universities – 12 months or less, 2-3 years, or 4-5 years. The final two questions, which focus on trends and challenges require only the distribution of your 10 votes.

You can enter your votes in the Word docs listed below and email them back, or you can simply print out the five forms, make your selections in pen or pencil, and fax them back to me at 830 629-0241. (If you choose to fax me, please write your name on the forms somewhere)
