Problem Statement

Currently, there are a limited number of options to choose from when deciding to share one’s resume online. A user can either employ some service focused more on social networking and connections than on resume display (i.e. LinkedIn), or create a personal website on which to share the document, either as a downloadable PDF or custom formatted static page. Although these implementations do provide for a fairly effective dissemination of the traditional resume, they offer little in the way of enhancements to provide a more interesting experience.

What we seek to accomplish with Resumazing! is to provide a platform that users can leverage to not only easily share their resumes with interested parties, but also provide supplementary additional information that an interested party can view at will. A traditional resume boils months, or even years, of experience down into a few bullet points filled with action verbs and buzzwords. Although this provides a general, easily-browsable overview of one’s work, the only manner in which a prospective employer, for example, can learn more about a particular responsibility or project is to contact the user and ask. With Resumazing!, we will enable our users to supplement the traditional, quickly-parseable information with interesting additional content, such as images, presentations, video, code samples, etc. By choosing to share a Resumazing! resume instead of a traditional one, our users can ensure that any interested parties can more fully grasp and appreciate their abilities and experience.
