Just a reminder that the deadline for abstract submissions for the Third International Engineering Systems Symposium in Delft in June 2012 has been extended until December 1, 2011.

The symposium invites submissions that address topics such as:
• engineering systems design
• performance and governance in domains such as: water and wastewater, energy (electricity, gas, renewables)
• healthcare
• the built environment
• transportation (road, rail, water, air)
• ICT services and support
• defense and security
• climate change

Accepted abstracts and full papers will be automatically published in the symposium proceedings. In addition, the organizing committee is in discussion with leading international journals to provide the opportunity for the most relevant academic papers to be published together as a special issue on the Design and Governance of Engineering Systems.

Read more about the symposium and call for submissions here. Click here to submit your abstract. Please contact Leslie Zachariah-Wolff with any questions, or to submit a proposal for a workshop or special session (also due December 1st).

This three-day symposium—co-sponsored by CESUN, the MIT Engineering Systems Division, and TU Delft—will address the challenges of designing and governing engineering systems by providing state-of-the-art, integrated framing and modeling approaches that embrace the complexity of large-scale, engineering systems from both the technical and socio-economic perspectives. This event will be the third in a series, following the first two highly successful International Engineering Systems Symposia in 2006 and 2009.
