Submission Requirements
Required Information
You choose what to include, but please write your thoughts in a way that is easy to understand. These may be as simple as "Why don't you do this?", to a fairly complete design specification or justification for a new/improved sub-system. Figures/sketches are a great way to communicate your ideas effectively.
Formatting
Please limit your submission to no more than three pages. Remember, we have to read every one, and we're doing so in our free time! Save your submission as a PDF, and upload it to us at this page.
Review Criteria
All ideas will be reviewed by the MIT team for technical merit and feasibility. The MIT team can accept or reject the ideas at its sole discretion.
Compensation (Payment) for Good Ideas
If we accept your idea to be included in the offshore floating nuclear power plant design, we will pay you $500-2,000, depending on the scope and impact of the idea! Winning ideas will be posted at this wiki. In case of overlapping winning ideas, the award will go to the earliest submittal.
Intellectual Property and Licensing of Ideas
All winning ideas will be posted, which will make them public. This may restrict the IP rights of the contributors. Contributors of the winning ideas will be asked to sign the following IP statement:
"I, ___________________________(printed name), agree that any intellectual property, including without limitation inventions (whether or not patentable), copyrightable material, software, tangible research property, and trademarks, I submit to the MIT Offshore Floating Nuclear Plant project from May 27, 2014 to May 26, 2016, will be registered in the public domain, meaning that the inventors and/or authors, as applicable, will retain no residual rights to the intellectual property and the intellectual property will be available for public use. Moreover, I represent that (i) I am authorized to agree to the aforementioned treatment of intellectual property, and (ii) I have not incurred, nor will I incur, any obligations that would preclude me from complying with the treatment outlined above."
