1. Fin Preforms made from laser cut plywood with full scale dimensions.

  2. Single sheet of E-glass Fiberglass layup on preforms.

  3. E-glass Fiberglass cut into 24 sheets for the tip to ti shape with three different sizes (1/3, 2/3 and full-size cut-outs).  Theses are shaped to fit between the tip of one fin and the next, although the 2 smaller sized cuts don't actually reach up to the tip of the fin and the biggest section folds over the edges.  The pieces of fabric were stuck down to wax paper with spray glue to reduce fiber warping.  Bleeder, release film, and vacuum bagging were also cut at this time.

  4. Now we get to the fun part, the layup itself.  Rollers were used to spread epoxy onto the fourteen fabric cutouts individually.  which were then placed by hand onto the fin can assembly and then vacuumed.
