Writing Compelling Cover Letters

Wednesday, October 3, 3:30-4:30pm, 3-133

This workshop will teach attendees how to craft a strategic cover letter.  Participants should bring a job description they want to apply for to aid in the drafting of an effective cover letter.  General information on cover letters will also be discussed.  This workshop is open to undergraduate and graduate students, alumni and postdocs. Registration requested through CareerBridge.

Case Workshop with PA Consulting 

Thursday, October 4, 6-7:30pm, room 4-145

Limited to 20 students. Please register on CareerBridge and be on time for this event.

Get the advice and practice you need to successfully complete a case interview. Through this interactive workshop you will learn helpful strategies for approaching case questions and receive guidance from our consultants. All majors welcome to attend.

The Art of Behavioral Interviewing

Friday, October 5, 2:30-4pm, room 4-237

While your technical skills will get you the interview, it is your behavioral attributes that will get you the job.  This session will discuss preparation and strategies for a successful interview.  In addition, sample behavioral interview questions will be provided along with tips on how to answer these tough questions. Practice Makes Perfect: Group Mock Interviews

Wednesday, October 10, 1-2pm, 2-143

In this group mock interview session, students will have a unique chance to practice and sharpen their interview skills. We will briefly review interviewing wisdom, discuss the art of giving and receiving feedback, then all participants will have a chance to answer questions and get feedback on their responses. Students who participate should first attend one of our in-person interviewing workshops or listen to our online workshop, Effective Interviewing, at http://gecd.mit.edu/workshop/interviewing/index.htm.

Registration for this workshop will be open on October 1st.  Limited to 18.  Drop-ins may be able to attend. 

 

Job Search for International Students (webinar)

Come learn how you, as an international student, can develop and enhance your job search and interviewing skills. This workshop will cover job search strategies, visa challenges, how to succeed in the U.S. workplace, interviewing styles and brief cover letter/resume tips. This session will focus specifically on challenges many international students may face when searching for a job and interviewing. It is highly recommended that you call in by phone to listen to this event, while viewing the slides and asking questions via computer. The sound is much more reliable and clear over the phone.

 

Gearing up for Grad School: A Panel

Come hear current graduate students share their experiences about choosing this path and seeing it through. Learn about the process of applying, interviewing, studying, and balancing the multiple roles of graduate school. The panel will feature students at the MS, JD/MBA, MD, MEng, and PhD levels. This panel is a great opportunity to get the insider perspective and ask questions! Co-sponsored by OME.
