Welcome to the SHASS IT Support Wiki Page

Important News and Announcements

  • Please DO NOT upgrade to Mac OS 10.9 Mavericks. IS&T is still working hard to get all MIT applications working correctly in the new OS.
At this time Mac OS 10.7 and 10.8 are the 2 recommended Mac OS versions.
  • iOS 7 for iPhone and iPad is now safe for upgrading. The safest way to apply this update is to connect your iPhone or iPad directly to iTunes on your main computer.
  • Windows XP is being discontinued. Anyone who is still using Windows XP on a PC should either upgrade to Windows 7 or retire the old hardware Windows XP is running on.
If you have any question which route to take, please contact us for a consultation.

Who We Are

SHASS IT is run by the Dean's Office of the School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences at MIT.

This group is staffed by Systems Administrator Lead Albert Wang (wangal@mit.edu) and Systems Administrator Daniel Irvine (dirvine@mit.edu).

Our Goal

Our goal is to provide the highest level of on-campus IT customer service support for 7 of the academic sections in the School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Science and the SHASS Dean's Office within the limits of available resources.

To help you on your way, we've set up this Wiki page as your helpful one stop IT resource.
